This watercolor workshop is intended specifically for the absolute beginner, and those with a little experience. Students learn basic techniques to work with watercolors including how to stretch paper, make a watercolor wash, apply glazes and textures, mix colors and more. All students come out of this workshop with a Filoli landscape or flower painting to take home. Learn the skills needed to enjoy other watercolor workshops at Filoli.
*The cost of this two-day workshop includes all supplies. Workshop hours are 9 am - 3:30 pm.

ARCHITECTURE in PERSPECTIVE

Don't be afraid to put buildings in your paintings. Learn to draw architecture in perspective. This will be a drawing only class, learning the rules and techniques of perspective. We will be working both 'plein air' and in the classroom from photos.
You will also learn how to calculate shadows - whether on a building, flower box, or a tree. This is invaluable to an artist to know when they alter a shape for their composition.
Workshop hours: 9 am - 3:30 pm. Daily demonstrations, critiques and personal instruction. Open to all levels.

PLEIN AIR to STUDIO WATERCOLOR WORKSHOPS

This five day workshop will help you learn to paint "plein air" while enjoying the wonderful, historical National Trust Garden. We will study color, composition, values, textures, mood and how to collect information through digital photos, sketches and color notes for your studio paintings.We will take these studies indoors for more 'in-depth' study and larger studio paintings. Classroom space provided also.
