WATERCOLOR - In-Depth Study in Planning so you can Paint Loosely
September 18 - 22, 2012
(Tuesday - Saturday)
Tickets on sale: End of January, 2012
Concentrating on DESIGN and COMPOSITON, this 5- day workshop will help you learn how to spend time planning the design of your painting, through color and value, so when you actually start the painting, you will be much more successful because you have already worked out the problems. Your pre-planned painting enables you to paint much more freely.
The first day we will collect information 'plein air', whether it is from photographs, sketches, color notes, or small paintings. And then we will bring that information into the studio to learn how to put it all together to make a successful painting. Alternatively, you may opt to work on one of your own photos. We will be working on one large full sheet painting for the entire 5 days.
We will study values and shapes in depth, altering them to make them work more effectively in your design. A detailed study of color and value will help you see light and shadows correctly. Jann will demonstrate on the computer how it is an effective tool to plan your designs and how she uses it to study color. it is all about teaching your eye to see.
